The modern views on the character and role of intermolecular interacti
ons and of the elastomer interchain organization are presented. The po
ssibility of presenting the system of intermolecular interactions as a
n infinite network of physical junctions is considered (physical netwo
rk model). Polymer physical networks are compared with associates form
ed in low-molecular-weight organic substances containing the centres o
f localised intermolecular interactions. The main physical properties
of polymers are analysed based on the physical network model. The part
icular attention is paid on author's works in the field of physical ne
tworks.
