The influence of chemical kinetics on the turbulent combustion of nonp
remixed reactants is considered. Several tests of the flamelet model d
eveloped earlier have been performed. Chemical and hydrodynamical calc
ulations can be effectively decoupled using this model since it predic
ts the dependence of temperature and reacting species concentration on
ly on conserved scalar and scalar dissipation. Calculations of mean C(
n)H(m), NO(x), OH, and CO concentrations and maximum flame temperature
are found to be in satisfactory agreement with data obtained in jet d
iffusion flames. It is found that the influence of finite rate of chem
ical reaction is significant even in cases far from the flame extincti
on. Limitations of the model are discussed.
