Abstract
The title compound, -2-(2,4-dichloro-5-nitrostyryl)-1,3-benzothiazole] hydrate, 2C(15)H(8)Cl(2)N(2)O(2)S.H2O, was obtained from the condensa tion of 2-methylbenzothiazole with 2, 4-dichloro-5-nitrobenzaldehyde. Single-crystal X-ray analysis showed that the asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically unique but structurally similar molecules. T he dihedral angle between the bernzothiazole fragment and the phenyl r ing is 6.1(4)degrees in molecule A and 19.5(4)degrees in molecule B.
