Abstract
A new class of organometallic compounds, organometallic merocyanines b ased upon the [(eta-(C5H5)(2)Fe-2(CO)(2)(mu-CO)] fragment acting as a donor, have been synthesized and characterized. The non-linear optical properties of these organometallic merocyanines have been determined by electric field induced second harmonic generation and indicate that these compounds have large second-order optical non-linearities.
