HFe2Co(CO)(9)(mu(3)-S) reacts with (eta(5)-Cp)Mo(CO)(3)Cl in refluxing
THF to give heterometallic trinuclear clusters (eta(5)-Cp)MoFeCo(CO)(
8)(mu(3)-S) and [(eta(5)-Cp)Mo](2)Fe(CO)(7)(mu(3)-S), which have been
characterized by elemental analyses, i.r., H-1- and C-13-n.m.r. and X-
ray crystal structure determination. An electrophilic addition-elimina
tion sequence is proposed for their formation.
