Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present a useful algorithm for minimiz ing harmomic voltage distortion levels Mirth multiple current-constrai ned active power line conditioners (APLCs) in a power system. The algo rithm contains a sensitivity analysts-based single-APLC placement proc edure and uses a nonlinear programming optimizer GRG2 to improve the s olution if necessary. The usefulness of this algorithm is then illustr ated by a distribution system example. Simulation results show that th e algorithm is simple, computationally efficient, and can be easily ex tended to minimize several other alternative harmonic-related network objective functions.
