A. Sali et al., THE EFFECT OF THE ELECTRON-LONGITUDINAL OPTICAL PHONON INTERACTION ONTHE PHOTOIONIZATION IN QUANTUM-WELL WIRES, Physica status solidi. b, Basic research, 200(1), 1997, pp. 145-153
The photon energy dependence of the photoionization cross-section is c
alculated for shallow donors in infinite potential quantum well wires
with rectangular cross-sections as a function of the size of the wire.
The electron-longitudinal optical (LO) phonon interaction is taken in
to account using the strong coupling treatment for the impurity state
and the Lee-Low-Pines variational treatment for the subband final stat
e. The results we obtained show that the photoionization cross-section
and the optical photoionization threshold energy are dramatically dep
endent on the sizes of the wire and are very sensitive to the electron
-LO phonon coupling.
