Abstract
A reasonable extension of the correlation technique applied to identif y heavy nuclides is proposed. A simple test with a Bi-212 (6.06, 8.78 MeV) alpha decay source demonstrates a possibility to detect conversio n electrons with a low pressure (1.3-4.0 hPa) multiwire proportional c hamber together with the detection of alpha particles with a silicon r adiation detector. A brief description of the detecting module precede s the test description. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
