M. Jeserich et al., EFFECT OF LONG-TERM ANGIOTENSIN-CONVERTING ENZYME-INHIBITION ON VASCULAR FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC CONGESTIVE-HEART-FAILURE, The American journal of cardiology, 76(14), 1995, pp. 1079
We demonstrate that peripheral vasodilatory capacity is impaired in pa
tients with chronic congestive heart failure not treated with aspirin,
but preserved in patients taking aspirin. Chronic angiotensin-convert
ing enzyme inhibition improves the decreased vasodilatory capacity in
these patients, indicating that locally acting cyclooxygenase-dependen
t factors contribute to peripheral vasoconstriction in chronic congest
ive heart failure.
