Abstract
We demonstrate that peripheral vasodilatory capacity is impaired in pa tients with chronic congestive heart failure not treated with aspirin, but preserved in patients taking aspirin. Chronic angiotensin-convert ing enzyme inhibition improves the decreased vasodilatory capacity in these patients, indicating that locally acting cyclooxygenase-dependen t factors contribute to peripheral vasoconstriction in chronic congest ive heart failure.
