Abstract
This study utilizes heart rate variability analysis to examine a new m ethod of intentionally shifting emotional states, and demonstrates tha t positive emotions lead to alterations in sympathovagal balance that may be beneficial in the treatment of hypertension. Anger, on the othe r hand, was shown to significantly increase sympathetic activation.
