Abstract
We describe 2 patients with bronchogenic carcinoma invading the left a trium in whom transesophageal echocardiography played a significant ro le in their management by defining the extent of cardiac invasion. Tra nsesophageal echocardiography should be considered in evaluating patie nts presenting with thoracic tumors believed to be encroaching on card iac structures, where consideration is being given to surgical resecti on of the tumor.
