This article details some of the recent developments that have taken p
lace giving a transformation in performance for modern low-cost EDXRF
benchtop instruments, and a discussion on rile new technique of 'multi
-dispersive X-ray fluorescence' (MDXRF) which is a combined system of
the classical techniques of energy dispersive- and wavelength dispersi
ve X-ray fluorescence, offering benefits of both techniques in one ins
trument.
