Abstract
We investigated octane and oil displacement from hydrophilic and hydro phobic quartz sand packs of high porosity by low-concentration aqueous surfactant solutions. A relationship between the oil recovery coeffic ient and the surface parameters of the system studied was established. An energetic approach to the description of the displacement process was proposed, taking into account the processes of detachment of oil d roplets (or films) from the rock surface, the break-up of the droplets and the action of capillary forces.
