In this paper, an improved fuzzy linear programming (FLP) model is pro
posed for solving linear optimization problems with fuzzy or imprecise
data. In the proposed model, non-membership functions are used instea
d of the usual membership functions to obtain the optimal solution. Th
e formulation process of the proposed model is described and compared
with existing FLP models which make use of membership functions. Two e
xamples are presented to demonstrate the simplicity of converting a li
near problem into the form of the proposed FLP model. Numerical result
s are the same as the available solutions which were obtained by using
existing FLP model.
