F. Helus et al., CONTRIBUTION TO CYCLOTRON TARGETRY .1. DISTRIBUTION AND QUANTIFICATION OF F-18 ACTIVITY PRODUCED VIA NE-20(D,ALPHA)F-18 REACTION IN A GAS-TARGET, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 182(2), 1994, pp. 237-245
Experimental methods for distribution and quantification of activity i
n a neon target bombarded by deuteron particles are presented and eval
uated. Optimum target handling for medical radionuclide applications i
s important for achieving high yields, high specific activity, and a l
ow rate of radiocontaminants with a minimum of cyclotron beam time. Th
e mechanism of activity distribution and its importance are studied in
relation to other considerations necessary for optimizing gas target
performance in radiopharmaceutical applications.
