Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (Gronblad-Strandberg syndrome) is a rare here
ditary disorder of connective tissue. Neurovascular manifestations are
caused by occlusive alterations of the small and medium-sized arterie
s. We describe a 60-year old man with cerebral micro-angiopathy, who s
uffered recurrent ischaemic strokes of the brainstem. The disease can
be diagnosed by its characteristic cutaneous features.
