Rh. Macphie et Sk. Darbha, THE INPUT IMPEDANCE OF A THIN DIPOLE WITH SINUSOIDAL SURFACE CURRENT DISTRIBUTION BY THE POYNTING VECTOR METHOD, IEEE transactions on antennas and propagation, 43(11), 1995, pp. 1336-1339
The input impedance of a thin (a much less than lambda) center-fed dip
ole with an assumed sinusoidal surface current distribution is obtaine
d by the Poynting vector method. It is shown that by retaining the sur
face current distribution rather than replacing it by the classical eq
uivalent line current on the dipole axis, the Poynting vector method c
an be used in a straightforward way and the dipole impedance obtained
as a series in powers of ka. The series is appropriately truncated to
order (ka)(2) since it is assumed that the dipole is thin (ka much les
s than 1).
