G. Widawski et al., SYNTHESIS OF POLYENES WITH CHAIN-END MESOGENS VIA LIVING RING-OPENINGMETATHESIS POLYMERIZATION, Journal of materials chemistry, 5(11), 1995, pp. 1847-1851
The incorporation of mesogenic (liquid-crystalline) chain-end function
alities in polyacetylene (PA) can be achieved using the 'Durham route'
and 'Schrock-type' well defined metal alkylidene initiators. These ch
ain-end groups were designed to nucleate the self-organization of the
polyenes in thin films prepared by spin coating of the precursor polym
er onto MISFET device structures, since improvements of carrier mobili
ty and conductivity are expected in well ordered materials.
