Abstract
Several kinds of lanthanide complex containing a new azo dye chromopho re, Me(2)NC(6)H(4), N=NC5H4NC18H37(EuA(3)A'), where A and A' are beta- diketones, have been designed and synthesized. Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of these compounds have been prepared. Most of them show both st rong second-harmonic generation (SHG) and a high collapse pressure. Th e second-order molecular hyperpolarizabilities are evaluated to be ca. (1-2.5) x 10(-27) esu.
