Abstract
A method is proposed for the study of equilibrium polycondensation rea ctions, which is based on monitoring a single parameter representing t he equilibrium amount of a low-molecular-mass reaction product passing into the gas phase. The synthesis of liquid-crystalline polyesters by transacylation of acetoxycarboxylic acids is characterized by low equ ilibrium constant and very low solubility of CH3COOH vapors in the mel t of polyester.
