The dependence of radiation-induced electrical conductivity on the irr
adiation time and temperature was studied for a number of polymers, Th
e character of variation of radiation-induced conductivity with time a
nd temperature correlates with the physical state of a polymer. ''Defr
eezing'' of the segmental mobility in the region of cx-relaxation tran
sition leads to a sharp change in radiation-induced conductivity, and
the appearance of peaks in the kinetic curves and break points on the
Arrhenius plots in conductivity versus temperature coordinates. Molecu
lar mobility plays a determining role in the transfer of charge carrie
rs generated by radiation. This conclusion agrees with the data on the
carrier mobility obtained by the time-of-flight methods.
