Abstract
We review emission models of soft gamma-ray repeaters (SGRs) within th e context of magnetized neutron star origins. Motivations for moderate field (less than or equal to 10(10-12)G) versus ultrastrong field (gr eater than or equal to 5 x 10(14)G) neutron stars are considered. Impl ications for the astrophyiscal models are discussed.
