Abstract
It is shown by a simple analysis that twinning in alpha-Zr polycrystal s is strongly influenced by the presence of impurity atoms in lo iv co ncentration. Motion of impurity atoms appears therefore as an importan t element to be taken into account when trying to define a criteria fo r twinning.
