Ai. Zvaigzne et al., SOLUBILITY OF PYRENE IN BINARY ALCOHOL PLUS 1-PROPANOL AND ALCOHOL PLUS 2-PROPANOL SOLVENT MIXTURES, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 40(6), 1995, pp. 1267-1269
Experimental solubilities are reported for pyrene dissolved in 11 bina
ry mixtures containing 1-propanol and 2-propanol with 1-butanol, 2-but
anol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, and 1-octanol at 26 deg
rees C. Results of these measurements are used to test two mathematica
l representations based upon the combined nearly ideal binary solvent
(NIBS)/Redlich-Kister equation and modified Wilson model. For the syst
ems studied, both equations were found to provide a fairly accurate ma
thematical representation of the experimental pyrene solubilities, wit
h an average absolute deviation between experimental and back-calculat
ed values of ca. +/-0.5%.
