Ai. Zvaigzne et al., SOLUBILITY OF ANTHRACENE AND PYRENE IN BINARY ALCOHOL PLUS ALCOHOL SOLVENT MIXTURES, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 40(6), 1995, pp. 1273-1275
Experimental solubilities are reported for anthracene dissolved in bin
ary 1-octanol + 2-propanol, 2-butanol + 1-butanol, 1-octanol + 1-butan
ol, 3-methyl-1-butanol + 1-propanol, and 2-methyl-1-propanol + 1-butan
ol mixtures at 25 degrees C, and for pyrene dissolved in binary solven
t mixtures containing 2-ethyl-1-hexanol with 1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1
-butanol, 2-butanol, 1-octanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, and 3-methyl-1-bu
tanol at 26 degrees C. Results of these measurements are used to test
two mathematical representations based upon the combined nearly ideal
binary solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister equation and modified Wilson mode
l. For the 12 systems studied, the combined NIBS/Redlich-Kister equati
on was found to provide an accurate mathematical representation of the
experimental data, with an overall average absolute deviation between
measured and calculated values being on the order of 0.4%. Slightly l
arger deviations were noted in the case of the modified Wilson equatio
n.
