Abstract
Biphasic liquid-liquid aqueous systems containing polymers are particu larly suitable for the separation and the extraction of proteins. Empi rical relations simplify their designs. Various devices are available for the use of ATPS from the analytical to the preparative scale. It e xplains why so many applications are described in the literature.
