Abstract
Symmetric organic compounds containing I-phosphoryl-3-imino groups wer e prepared by a two phase reaction between the corresponding dialkylph osphite and alkanediyl diisothiourea. The X-ray structure analysis sho wed that the diisopropylphosphoryl ethylenediisothiourea IIa crystalli zed in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with the cell dimensions a = 16.660(3) angstrom, b = 8.910(2) angstrom, c = 17.457(3) angstrom, z = 4, at -100-degrees-C. The coordination around the phosphorus atom in the molecule is distorted tetrahedrally. The molecule has moieties sli ghtly out of plane around O=P-N-C-N with strong intermolecular hydroge n bonds.
