Abstract
We present a formally exact Green's tensor approach to the calculation of the frequencies of elastic vibrations localized in the vicinity of a circularly symmetric protuberance or indentation on an otherwise pl anar, stress-free surface of a semi-infinite, isotropic elastic medium -acoustic surface shape resonances. The method is illustrated by apply ing it to the determination of the frequencies of several of the lowes t frequency acoustic surface shape resonances associated with protuber ances or indentations of several different forms.
