Abstract
It was found that remelting is the origin of grain refinement in under cooled Cu30Ni70 specimens. It was also demonstrated that composition d ifference across a dendrite is the cause of remelting. The critical un dercooling, Delta T for grain refinement is 145 K for undercooledCu(3 0)Ni(70). (C) 1995 American Institute of Physics.
