Abstract
Mixtures of acetaldehyde and active methylene reagent reacted with cya nothioacetamide to yield thiopyran 4 and pyridine thione 10. The pyrid ine thiones 10 readily reacted with a wide variety of reagents to give novel heterocyclic systems.
