Pm. Girardot et al., CEREBROSPINAL-FLUID EXAMINATION IN A CASE OF CHILDHOOD ORBITAL GRANULOCYTIC SARCOMA, Diagnostic cytopathology, 15(3), 1996, pp. 237-240
The diagnosis of a case of childhood orbital granulocytic sarcoma, ini
tially classified as a poorly-differentiate malignant tumor, was final
ly considered at the time of relapse following primary treatment with
chemotherapy and local irradiation. At this time, systematic cerebrosp
inal fluid examination showed numerous blast cells with Auer rods, con
sistent with the diagnosis of meningeal acute myeloid leukemia of M2 t
ype, and concomitant biopsy of the tumor indicated the diagnosis of ch
loroma. Reevaluation of the primary biopsy confirmed this diagnosis. (
