Abstract
The average transitional quadrupole moment of two superdeformed bands in Ce-133 and the yrast superdeformed formed band in Ce-132 have been measured as Q(t)=7.5+/-0.8 e b using the Doppler shift attenuation met hod and exploiting target-thickness induced Doppler broadening. These results are consistent with total Routhian surface calculations and in dicate that the occupation of the nu[530]1/2 orbital has little polari zing effect upon the shape of the superdeformed core.
