Microscopic variational model calculations are presented for available
experimental data on the static properties and the transition charge
densities of Cd-110,Cd-114 nuclei. The transition charge densities, be
ing very sensitive to the neutron-proton (n-p) interaction strength, l
ead to fixing of the parameters accurately. It is seen that the magnit
ude of the n-p interaction strength decreases from -0.023 to -0.020 Me
V b(-4) in going from Pd to Cd nuclei, supporting the idea of the defo
rming tendency of the n-p interactions.
