Abstract
The paper presents a simple characterization of a real II-matrix and t wo-sided componentwise bounds for its inverse in terms of the comparis on matrix and the so-called Z- and positive parts. These bounds, impro ving the well-known Ostrowsky result, are also extended to a larger cl ass of matrices.
