Cg. Morgan et al., FAST SOLUTE RELEASE FROM PHOTOSENSITIVE LIPOSOMES - AN ALTERNATIVE TOCAGED REAGENTS FOR USE IN BIOLOGICAL-SYSTEMS, FEBS letters, 375(1-2), 1995, pp. 113-116
The kinetics of release of soluble marker trapped in liposomes of gel
phase phospholipid containing a photoisomerisable phospholipid analogu
e have been investigated, Marker release is triggered by UV laser flas
h photolysis at 355 nm, A markedly temperature-dependent release rate
is seen, and above 25 degrees C millisecond release kinetics can be ac
hieved, These results suggest that such liposomes might find applicati
on as an alternative to conventional 'caged' reagents for photo-trigge
red reagent release in biological research.
