:Hepatitis due to toxoplasmosis is present in most patients with the c
ongenital form of the disease but is rare in adults in the absence of
immune deficiency. A case of acquired toxoplasmosis with cholestatic j
aundice and a rash as the first manifestations was seen in an immunoco
mpetent adult. The diagnosis was established on the basis of high leve
ls of specific antibodies and results of the 2-mercapto-ethanol test.
The outcome was spontaneously favorable.
