Mj. Tafreshi et al., MICROHARDNESS AND OPTICAL STUDIES ON CDS SINGLE-CRYSTALS GROWN BY SUBLIMATION AND HYDROGEN TRANSPORT TECHNIQUES, Materials research bulletin, 30(11), 1995, pp. 1387-1392
Microhardness and optical absorption measurements have been carried ou
t for the CdS single crystals grown both by sublimation (in vacuum atm
osphere) and hydrogen transport techniques. There is a reduction in ha
rdness, fracture toughness and optical absorption of the CdS single cr
ystals when hydrogen is used as the transporting agent. The microhardn
ess measurement has also been carried out for the sublimation grown Cd
Se single crystals which showed higher hardness and fracture toughness
values compared to sublimation grown CdS single crystal.
