K. Ko et al., A METHOD FOR MONITORING INTRACRANIAL TEMPERATURE VIA TUNNELED VENTRICULAR CATHETER - TECHNICAL NOTE, Neurosurgery, 34(5), 1994, pp. 927-929
A SIMPLE TECHNIQUE for monitoring intracerebral temperature in humans
via a ventricular catheter is described. This differs from a previousl
y described method by enabling such measurements to be accomplished wi
th a commercially available thermistor, a standard ventricular cathete
r, and common hospital supplies. In contrast to the earlier device, th
is system allows for the subcutaneous tunneling of the distal ventricu
lar catheter. This is an easily assembled and cost-effective technique
with which to conduct investigations on human intracerebral temperatu
re.
