Abstract
High-performance liquid chromatography with UV-visible detection was u sed for the qualitative and quantitative determination of sunset yello w FCF and ponceau 4R in sweets samples. The separation of dyes has bee n obtained by reverse phase chromatography in a methanol/phosphate buf fer system. Under these conditions, a good separation and short retent ion times were obtained for each standard dye solution. Calibration cu rves were linear. The applicability of this method has been shown with two commercial sweets samples.
