Dm. Green et al., THE TREATMENT OF WILMS-TUMOR - RESULTS OF THE NATIONAL WILMS-TUMOR STUDIES, Hematology/oncology clinics of North America, 9(6), 1995, pp. 1267
The survival expectancy for Wilms tumor patients has increased dramati
cally from about 50% at the beginning of the National Wilms Tumor Stud
y (NWTS) trials to a current expectancy in the 90% range. This increas
e has been accomplished while treatment for most patients was being re
duced in intensity. The result is a reduction in short- and long-term
toxicity and cost.
