N. Elkinkoren, THE CHALLENGES OF TECHNOLOGICAL-CHANGE TO COPYRIGHT LAW - COPYRIGHT REFORM AND SOCIAL-CHANGE IN CYBERSPACE, Science communication, 17(2), 1995, pp. 186-200
This article addresses the future of copyright law in cyberspace. It a
rgues that the potential of cyberspace to decentralize the production
and dissemination of knowledge requires adjusting copyright rules to s
erve the promise of decentralization and to facilitate participation i
n the production of knowledge. This argument is demonstrated through a
nalysis of a reform proposal made by the Working Group on Intellectual
Property of the Information infrastructure Task Force. The article su
ggests an alternative approach to copyright reform that focuses on fac
ilitating the social choices created by digital technology.
