Abstract
15 cats with radiographic signs of a thoracic trauma after an accident were controlled electrocardiographically. 11 of these 15 patients (73 %) developed EGG-changes after the accident. The diagnosed EGG-change s were intraventricular conduction defects (IVCD). These IVCD were rec orded 24 hours after the accidents in 20 %, 48-72 hours after the acci dent in 88 % of the patients controlled in that period. The histologic examination of two hearts with IVCD showed focal areas of myocard deg eneration. From the data presented we conclude that in the cat after a blunt thoracic trauma myocard necrosis with EGG-changes in form of IV CD can occur.
