Abstract
Between 1787 and 1799 JOHANN CHRISTIAN VON MANNLICH created an ornitho logical work entitled ''Sammlung europaischer Vogel'' with more than 3 00 watercolour paintings of birds. The paintings which are of a fine q uality have so far been unknown to ornithologists. The work has never been printed so far. 31 of the watercolours are listed.
