Disazo dyes derived from the disodium salt of chromotropic acid and th
eir chelates with metal ions were applied on polyester, polyester/cott
on and polyester/wool blend fibres as disperse dyes. The fastness to w
ashing, perspiration, rubbing and light of the resultant dyeings were
measured. The bonding of dye or its complexes to the fibre and the eff
ect of substituent groups on the colour fastness of the dyes are discu
ssed.
