Abstract
Well-aligned thin films of polymeric ferroelectric liquid crystal have been prepared by means of a spin-coating method. Several types of ele ctrooptical effects and the optical second-harmonic generation in thes e films have been measured. The characteristics of their effects in sp in-coated polymeric ferroelectric liquid crystal film with a free surf ace have been discussed in comparison with those of conventional sandw ich cells.
