Abstract
We recently introduced a new transport protocol, called DTP, which use s send time control as its flow control scheme. In this scheme, the ti me at which a packet is sent by a source is computed from estimates of round-trip time, traffic in the network, and bottleneck service time, In this paper, we propose an estimation technique for the send-time c ontrol scheme. The estimation scheme proposed here reflects the charac teristics of network dynamics which have been observed on the Internet . The results show that DTP performs much better than TCP In all the s cenarios considered.
