P. Duran et al., PROCESSING AND PROPERTIES OF ZIRCONIA-BASED AL2O3 NANOSCALE-COMPOSITES AS ELECTROLYTES FOR SOLID OXIDE FUEL-CELLS/, European journal of solid state and inorganic chemistry, 32(10), 1995, pp. 963-975
The morphology and particle size of yttria (3 and 8 mol%)-doped zircon
ia/alumina (0 to 20 wt%) coprecipitated powders were studied using mea
surements of surface area, X-ray diffraction, DTA, infrared spectrosco
py, and TEM. Shrinkage behaviour of the isopressed composites was stud
ied by isothermal and non-isothermal experiments. The effect of Al2O3
content on the microhardness (H) and fracture toughness (K-IC) of zirc
onia/Al2O3 composites was studied by the Vicker's indentation techniqu
e. The influence of Al2O3 addition (10 wt%) on the electrical properti
es of tetragonal/Al2O3, and cubic zirconia/Al2O3 composites also was s
tudied.
