The mechanism of tile anti-Stokes photoluminescence in ZnSe:Cr is disc
ussed. It is shown that the two-step ionization transitions of Cr (2() <-> 1(+)) result in appearance of tile blue anti-Stokes photolumines
cence of ZnSe:Cr. There are also some indications that the Auger type
co-operative process can contribute to the photoluminescence excitatio
n.
