Optical measurements of bulk GaSb:S reveal the structure of the lattic
e two phonon absorption and acceptor-valence band transitions. A sulph
ur related local vibrational modes and several bands related to the op
tical transitions from the ground state of the acceptor level are obse
rved. A comparison of transport and optical measurements for GaSb:Te a
nd AlGaSb:Te shows that in the alloy it is easier to obtain high conce
ntrations of the electrically active Te impurity.
