MEDIUM-DEPENDENT TRAPPING OF DIAZOALKANE INTERMEDIATES DURING PHOTOLYSIS OF DIAZIRINES

Photolysis of an intimate mixture of methyl(phenyl)diazirine and N-met hylmaleimide in the absence of solvent permits the diazoalkane interme diate to be trapped, whereas the equivalent reaction in solution gives only cyclopropanated adducts.
